Just back from the bar, where I met Jeff Ritchie to talk about an article we’re going to co-author. Had a couple of Mackesons and walked home. Wow is it cold.

Note: We have so much trash that I’ve had to put some of it in our next-door neighbors’ yard. I swear to god, these people take the trash out once every 6 months. It’s absolutely vile.

I’m going to try diligently to go to bed at a decent hour tonight. I swear.

A brief quote from John Ruskin, who I would, I believe, give up body parts to write like. Ruskin is describing his “Toryism,” by which he means his devout love of Kings and castles, and for that matter, all things royal:

“And at this day, though I have kind invitations enough to visit America, I could not, even for a couple of months, live in a country so miserable as to possess no castles” (Ruskin Praeterita 8).
